The Comforter (Artist's Proof)
A tribute to the nursing profession, The Comforter honors those who are most hands-on in the comfort and care of our sick children. The eye is directed straight at the compassionate face of the nurse by contrast of the dark blue drape. We then follow her gaze to the child's feverish face and then up to Jesus, a figure of strength, bathed in warm light.
This Artist's Proof is numbered, hand-signed and personally inspected by the artist. Historically, when reproduction of original art began it was common for an artist to pull several reproductions off a print run for family members, friends, and benefactors. As time passed this practice caused the creation of an artist's proof sub-edition. The print is identical to the limited edition print, but the numbering scheme is smaller, which adds value. When an edition sells out, artist's proofs are preferred by collectors.
